PENN STATE FOOTBALL TEAM DISMISSES PENN WOOD GRADUATE OAKMAN
Shawn Oakman, a 2011 graduate of Penn Wood High School, was dismissed from Penn State's football team Tuesday night.
Though it sounds redundant, here is the official statement from Penn State: "Penn State freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman has been dismissed from the football team due to a violation of team rules."
A 6-9, 260-pound defensive end, Oakman was a redshirt freshman who sat out the 2011 football season at Penn State.
Oakman was an All-Delco defensive end for Penn Wood's football team. His senior year, en route to earning All-Delco distinction, he posted 80 tackles (23 for a loss), 16 sacks, nine batted balls, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles as the Patriots went 9-2 and won the Del Val League title.
He also was a standout center who helped the school's basketball team win the PIAA Class AAAA championship in 2009 and the District One Class AAAA championship in 2010.
