CHESTER'S JEFFERSON EARNS ROSTER SPOT WITH YET-ANOTHER NATIONAL TEAM

Chester High senior Rondae Jefferson has been selected as one of four players named to the 2012 USA Basketball U-18 3-on-3 national team.

Jefferson and three others will represent the U.S. at the FIBA U-18 3x3 World Championship Sept. 27-30 in Seville, Spain. Prior to their trip, the U-18 team will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for a training camp for four days, from Sept. 21-24.

Jefferson was a member of the Team USA men's developmental national team and attended camp at the USOTC in Colorado earlier this summer. He initially made the cut for the U-17 national team that would represent the U.S. in the World Championship tournament in Lithuania, but ultimately failed to make the final roster.

The 3-on-3 tournament is nothing new to Jefferson, who wore the national team colors in the 2011 3x3 Youth World Championship. That team went 7-5 and finished eighth. The tournament has changed names, but it's -- in effect -- the same thing.

Jefferson is coming off Chester High's finest season, in which the Clippers (32-0) posted a perfect season for the first time in school history while defending their PIAA Class AAAA championship. The reigning Daily Times Player of the Year, Jefferson has narrowed his college choices to seven: Arizona, Texas, Florida, Memphis, Temple, Rutgers and Syracuse. He has said he'll make a decision by Jan. 3, his birthday.
